Cesc Fabregas – CM – 87
Nemanja Matic – CDM – 84
Oscar – CAM – 84
Ramires – CDM – 80
John Obi Mikel – CDM – 77
Ruben Loftus-Cheek – CM – 63

Cesc Fabregas is the 16th highest-rated player in the game and was given the same rating as James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos. He has been playing out of position for Chelsea as a deep-lying midfielder but he still notched 18 assists and had the most touches of the ball in the Premier League.

Nemanja Matic is a colossus in the middle of the park but his rating may have suffered a point or two because of his lack of offensive contribution. Yaya Toure for example is rated an 85 and that may be because of his penchant for scoring goals for City.

Oscar maintaing his 84 rating this season and his absence from the side has showed how important of a player he is for Chelsea. He is on the cusp of true stardom and after his first summer off in four years he will have heavier expectations placed on his shoulders.

Chelsea’s midfield supporting cast of Ramires and John Obi Mikel are both ranked one point lower than last season but that may have more to do with a lack of action than anything else. Ramires has not been the player he was during the magical 2012 run to the Champions League Final but perhaps that was an aberration. He and Mikel are nothing more than squad players at this point.

As for youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek, a 63 rating is not bad for a player who has been relegated to cameo appearances for the first team. A few starts and some strong performances could see his rating increase mid-season.
