Pedro and Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard has been nowhere near the superstar that he is. Nowhere. He hasn’t been super. He hasn’t even been a star. Chelsea need him desperately.

The good news is that this international break may have just invigorated the Belgian. Two goals in two games is exactly what the winger needs to kickstart his season and hopefully we will see him carry his goalscoring form into Saturday.

Having said that, his overall performances with his country have still been questionable but Blues fans won’t really care if he gets goals. Chelsea need goals desperately too.

After a trophy-laden campaign last time out, perhaps criticism from both Mourinho and Belgium coach Marc Wilmots was what the player required to snap him out of this possible complacency-related rough patch.

Pedro, meanwhile, is the big money signing who has been parachuted in to spark Chelsea into life. He did so in his first game when he scored but the following week saw a flat Pedro and a flat Blues side fall to Crystal Palace. The prospect of Pedro and Hazard playing together at the top of their game is mouthwatering. It hasn’t happened yet but it can’t be that far away.

I hope.

As Raphael Varane reminded us this week, Jose Mourinho is the man to get the best out of his players so expect nothing less from his star men at Goodison.
