Jose Mourinho spoke to the media ahead of Saturday afternoon’s fixture at Everton FC. The Merseysiders are looking to catch Chelsea FC while they’re down and steal a result from the Londoners.

Mourinho will be without his star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for this match and potentially four more months after he suffered a knee injury in training with the club after the international break. Mourinho told the Chelsea FC Official Site of his goalie’s status for the weekend match at Goodison Park.

"“I cannot tell you much but I can tell you he needs surgery in his right knee and as a consequence he will be out for quite a long time. I cannot be more specific about the time he will be out, but I know he will be out for some time. It’s a big blow but you will not see me speaking next week about Thibaut because I never do about an injured player.”"

While Jose won’t talk about an injured player, he certainly has nothing but confidence in his backup ‘keeper, Asmir Begovic. “It’s not easy to have the best goalkeeper in the world injured but it’s easy to have one of the best goalkeepers in the world to play, and we have Begovic to play and he’s very, very good. I’m very sad for Thibaut and for the team but we have a top goalkeeper and Begovic will be in goal,” said Mourinho.

Begovic looks to be the go to goalie for the foreseeable future with this type of injury. Courtois required surgery to repair his injured knee and will need time to recover before rejoining the starting 11 for the Blues.

Mourinho also discussed Oscar’s status for the upcoming match. The Brazilian will be a doubt for the match with Everton, but will most likely be fit for the Champions League match with Maccabi Tel Aviv this week.

Everton are not a side that Chelsea FC take lightly. Mourinho said, “We are in a title race. We need points. Every game is difficult, and Everton are no different. We go with the intention to win the match but with lots of respect for a quality opponent.”

The season is still quite young, and Chelsea has every opportunity to climb the Premier League table. The reigning champions will be getting everyone’s best shot week in and week out, but The Special one will ensure his side is ready. With a week off to study film and assess how to work in newcomers such as Pedro in offensive schemes that will utilize the player’s strengths to the utmost possibility. Surely it is too early to declare Chelsea in a “crisis” but a loss at Goodison Park will not to anything to put out the fires of panic.
