Chelsea FC lost for the third time this season, here are my post-match reflections…
It’s a really bad time to be a Chelsea FC supporter, isn’t it? I can see Jose Mourinho’s arrogant, confident facade slowly slipping off with each terrible performance that his wards puts in. He may have refused to blame his players in his post-match press conference after another lackluster defensive and attacking display confined the Blues to a massively disappointing 3-1 defeat at Everton, but he is most definitely starting to feel the pressure. This is especially true if reports about a meeting with Roman Abramovich on Friday prior to the game are grounded.

Despite making some changes to the line-up that lost at home to Crystal Palace (most notably the introduction of John Mikel Obi) it was the same old issues that cropped up again. Manchester City’s late victory now means that the Blues are almost effectively out of contention for the title after just 5 games; closing an 11 point gap is an extremely difficult task even for an in-form side.
With the Blues a long way from the quality of title challengers even a top 4 place is starting to look like a tough proposition as well, especially considering the team’s next few fixtures (Arsenal home, Newcastle away and Southampton home).
