Chelsea FC Keeper Asmir Begovic: We Cannot Feel Sorry For Ourselves
Blues goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has come out fighting with regard to Chelsea FC’s poor form
While Jose Mourinho tried to pin Chelsea FC’s terrible results on fate, Asmir Begovic has weighed in with his say on the footballing crisis. Speaking to reporters, the 28-year-old goalkeeper stated that although confidence is low there is no room for the team to pity their position.
"No one was kicking off in the dressing room – nothing. We had to pick ourselves up. There are lots of games to go, we cannot feel sorry for ourselves or points fingers. We will get that good feeling through the squad again."
Begovic is not wrong. When a squad has hit rock bottom, crying and bemoaning their predicament will do nothing to help the situation. Chelsea need to gather their thoughts and channel any negative energy into inflicting damage on their next opponents.
This is not to say that self-reflection is not necessary. In fact, the complete opposite is true. Each highly-paid professional must take a long look at themselves and figure out what the hell he is doing. There is no room for pity, but they should remind themselves that they won two trophies last season and are much better than the rubbish that has been exhibited on the pitch.

Begovic also addressed the club’s prospects, indicating that all is not lost for the Stamford Bridge faithful just yet.
"We know we can go on a big run. Once things start clicking for us, psychologically, mentally, physically, we can be a very powerful team and everyone knows that."
Everyone does know that but will anything ever click? At the moment it does not look like one of those scenarios where all the pieces are present and just waiting to click into place, there is nothing of value to click at all. Furthermore, with Chelsea 11 points behind league-leaders Manchester City is it already too late to make up lost ground?

It is football, so anything can happen, but it would certainly take something miraculous for the Blues to salvage a title challenge from this dumpster fire of a campaign.
Chelsea host Maccabi Tel-Aviv on Wednesday in their first Champions League game of the season and Begovic is hoping that the meeting could provide the spark to light the club’s fuse. Especially with a fixture against Arsenal on the horizon, a positive result is needed.
"It is a case of getting going and the season back on track and a good result on Wednesday will get the confidence going."
The atmosphere at the Bridge will undoubtedly be electric on Wednesday night. Chelsea are desperate for a win and everyone is aware of that. Three losses in the first five league games equates to the club’s worst start since 1988 and Mourinho will be hoping that his charges explode into life under the bright lights.
Begovic will be a huge part of a reversal in fortunes after Thibaut Courtois was injured. With the Belgian reportedly facing up to three months on the sidelines, the former Stoke City man will show all the doubters why Chelsea spent £8million on him.
In the meantime, let’s not even think about a Maccabi win.
