A month into the season Chelsea FC have already lost as many games as they did in the Premier League all of last year.
You can’t say Jose Mourinho is not a risk taker, as he decided to play 10 pylons in the outfield last weekend at Goodison. Too harsh? OK – Kurt Zouma and 9 pylons.

Let’s see if he’s a real risk taker and decides to give Ruben Loftus-Cheek an extended run in the first team. With Pedro and Willian sidelined, all signs suggest that he should.
I myself can not be critical of anyone however. If you are a loyal follower of this column, I apologize if I have been letting you down. I have been awful. Perhaps just as Mourinho feels about his squad, I have been unlucky, but we march on. And hopefully for myself and Chelsea FC, it can’t get much worse than this…or can it?
Chelsea vs. Arsenal
Yes, I know the Blues beat Maccabi 4-0, but my eyes still see what they see. Chelsea play very slow and that’s the reason behind the lack of chances they create. Oscar will try his best to reverse this but they are still a long way away from being prolific.
An archaeological team has been excavating Stamford Bridge in an attempt to find Eden Hazard.
RANDOM FOOTY FACT Arsene Wenger just became the first manager to lose 50 Champions League games
According to Squawka Football, Arsenal have taken 90 shots this season and only scored 4 goals. We can talk about their mid week failings in Zagreb, but it would really just be repeating the same dialogue we’ve heard for the last decade.
So let’s hear it from Arsenal fans themselves:
History tells us that even at the best of times for these 2 clubs, when Mourinho comes up against Wenger it will be low scoring. Chelsea have usually done a good job at taking away Arsenal’s midfield joy. The Gunners best shot at penetrating Chelsea’s defense will be Theo Walcott using his speed against Cahill/Terry. And after Olivier Giroud’s horror show in Croatia expect him to start Saturday on the bench.
Chelsea have a vulnerable opponent they know how to beat, at home. They have no excuse to screw this up.
Picks: Chelsea (+140) & under 2.5 goals (+110)
Swansea vs. Everton
Swansea play very positively at home but Everton are also flying high. I can’t envision either of these sides giving their opponent too many openings, and even if the chance comes, beating Howard or Fabianski looks a task. John Stones put Diego Costa in his pocket last week, let’s see if he has room for Bafetimbi Gomis.
I see a stalemate in Wales. These 2 sides drew twice last season and I see both settling for a point again.
Pick: Draw (+230)

Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace
Everything about this game points to Palace. Since Alan Pardew took over at Crystal Palace they have averaged 2.4 points every road game. Spurs had a Thursday Europa League game. Harry Kane is not firing. And most importantly, Pardew’s men are just better at the moment. I see more White Hart Pain for Tottenham.
Pick: Crystal Palace +0.5 goals (Even)
Serie A special: Genoa vs. Juventus
Juventus, who were winless this season, dealing with injuries to Marchisio and Khedira and adapting to the losses of Tevez, Vidal and Pirlo, walked into The Etihad on Tuesday and showed Man City that you can pay for Sterling, you can fork out the money for De Bruyne, but you can’t buy class.
Now the Serie A champions look to get their title defense on track as they visit Genoa. I yield to recent history again which suggests a tight affair but the value and the momentum rides with the Old Lady.
Pick: Juventus (-110)
Last week’s record: 0-3-1 (-3.5 units)
Overall: 6-15-2 (-12.3 units)
