Ex-Chelsea FC Boss Carlo Ancelotti Not Joining Liverpool: Reports

Amidst rumours of Carlo Ancelotti joining Liverpool, apparently there has been no contact between the two parties

Rumours surfaced earlier today that Liverpool were interested in bringing in former Chelsea FC manager Carlo Ancelotti to replace the under-pressure Brendan Rodgers. However, fresh reports are now dismissing the notion claiming that Liverpool have not contacted Ancelotti at all.

ESPN FC cites ‘sources’ (*shrugs shoulders*) while claiming that the successful Italian has not been sounded out by Liverpool officials.

"Sources say that the Reds have not contacted former Real Madrid boss Ancelotti or any other manager despite Rodgers being under pressure after a poor start to the season with Liverpool lying 13th in the Premier League."

Ancelotti helped steady Chelsea’s ship after they entered a tumultuous period post-Jose Mourinho. While all three of Luiz Felipe Scolari, Ray Wilkins and Guus Hiddink were in charge of the Blues at some point during the 2008/09 campaign, Ancelotti arrived the next season and led the club to a Premier League-FA Cup double. However, a fruitless second season resulted in his dismissal.

Now, it seems that that the illustrious Italian could return to the Premier League but this time to the north. Rogers is under pressure after a poor 2014/15 campaign (in which they spent a lot of money and did very little) and a dismal start to this season where they have only gained eight points from six games.

While the Ancelotti switch seems unlikely at the moment, Reds fans will undoubtedly be eager to see him arrive. Ancelotti will be looking to apply the wealth of experience that he has garnered over the years to the under-achieving club. Furthermore, the red half of Liverpool will be hoping that his never-ending list of trophies will rub off on Jordan Henderson and co.

In attempt to neatly sum up his trophy cabinet, let’s just say that he has won nine major trophies. As a player. Then add another nine for his managerial career. However, the most impressive line on his resume is that he has won five European Cups, two on the field and three from the dugout.

What a man.

He is currently taking a well-deserved break after Real Madrid wielded their overused axe to get rid of him over the summer. It remains to be seen whether he will be tempted by a move to Liverpool but someone somewhere has started the rumour and I guess we will see in the coming days.

In the meantime, let’s remind ourselves of how he can raise his eyebrow like a boss.
