Chelsea FC, Manchester City Win, Goal Fest At Norwich: Premier League Picks
By Zahir Gilani
Where’s should your money be going this weekend? Find out the Premier League picks!
This is the first weekend of the year when I’m forced to wait on lineups to be released before I can make my mind up on certain fixtures. With midweek cup ties on both sides of this weekend’s Premier League slate it will be crucial to see who is in and who is out of their respective starting lineups.
Tottenham vs. Man City
It is being anticipated that both David Silva and Vincent Kompany will be back for this game. If you wish to take City, as I will be doing, you can wait until the lineups come out an hour before kickoff to make sure. In the last 10 fixtures between these two sides, City are 8-1-1.
Tottenham lost to blood rivals Arsenal mid week in the Capital One Cup, so after that disappointing result you can see why they would be caught a little flat on Saturday. Even if Spurs don’t come out flat, City at full strength have way too much for them.
Sergio Aguero in 7 career games against Tottenham is 7-0-0 and has scored 10 goals. In other words, he likes playing them
Pick: Man City (-105)
West Ham v Norwich
I highly doubt that either of these sides is capable of playing a boring game. Each of them have gone over 2.5 goals in 4 of their 6 premier league games. The Canaries have not kept a single clean sheet in the league yet. This is trend that I hope continues this weekend.
Pick: Over 2.5 goals (-110)
Chelsea vs. Newcastle
Random Footy Fact: Jose Mourinho has never won a Premier League game at St. James’ Park
Chelsea have not fared well in this part of the country as of late. But Newcastle are in shambles. They have won 1 game all season and that was in the 2nd round of the Capital One Cup against Northampton. The players don’t want to put in any effort and some of them appear as if they have checked out.
Chelsea need to start piling up wins. They have won 3 games in a row and are starting to build up confidence against lowly opposition and Newcastle fit that description perfectly.
You ask me without Diego Costa, how can Chelsea win? I respond that against such feeble competition, how can they not. Time for Mourinho to exercise his St. James’ demon.
Pick: Chelsea (-140)

Watford vs. Crystal Palace
I like Palace if Scott Dann returns from injury. He’s probably the best defender in England that no one pays attention to, but he was absent last week at White Hart Lane and they did not look steady at the back as I expected they would.
Palace have won 8 of 11 Premier League road games under Pardew. If they are at full strength there is no reason to think that Watford will be able to thwart them.
Pick: IF Scott Dann plays Palace Draw No Bet (+110)
Last week’s record: 4-1 (+4.8 units)
Overall: 10-16-2 (-7.5 units)
