Chelsea FC Season Hits Rock-Bottom With Ugliest Fans Award

Blues fans are severely unattractive, apparently.

Just when Chelsea FC fans thought that their season could not get any worse, a study has named the Stamford Bridge faithful as the ugliest in the Premier League. ME? UGLY? YOU? UGLY? NAHHHHHHHH.

Online dating website Match.com conducted a survey asking which football fans you would most likely want to go out with. Bournemouth came out on top with 58% of those questioned happy to hook up with a supporter of the newly-promoted side.

EDITORIAL: Chelsea FC Should Bench Jurassic Cesc Fabregas

Chelsea fans, however, came last. No-one, male or female, seems eager to date someone who defends Diego Costa, sings about celery, conjures up the idea of the rest of world conspiring against them and keeps the blue flag flying high. Whatever the hell that means.

However, given that we’re talking about England here, this could well be a consequence of the West London club’s success. We all know that a proper Englishman hates to see someone else be successful so that could easily be the reason behind Chelsea’s ranking. Hell, Manchester United are 19th too.

Having said that, Manchester City do come in at an attractive fourth place while Southampton and Norwich take second and third spot respectively.

I haven’t seen many Bournemouth games but I can understand their position at the top. Their fans seem very easy-going while there may be some decent tans knocking about the Dorset coast.

I would pass judgement on Man City’s ranking, but not enough people turn up to The Etihad to allow me to carry out a reasonable assessment.

I’m not sure that this survey is very accurate, though. I’ve been to Stamford Bridge on multiple occasions and I have to say that Blues fans are a beautiful bunch. Or at least a bunch.

Meanwhile, in another result of the survey that illustrates how seriously football fans take their allegiance to their club, over 10% would refuse to go out with a supporter of a rival team.

A ‘relationship expert’ (*shrugs shoulders*) from the dating website tried to explain the findings.

"Football might be the beautiful game, but emotions can run high in sport. As we already know, couples with shared interests last longest, so when searching potential matches, it’s quite likely that fellow supporters will tickle your fancy. If you do accidentally fall for a rival fan you’ll both have to exercise tact during football season.Kate Taylor, Match.com (via The Telegraph)"

Cheers Kate.

Blues fans looking for good news on the back of Chelsea’s poor start are unlikely to take solace in these findings. Jose Mourinho’s men are languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table with a tough clash against Southampton awaiting on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a string of three consecutive and seemingly convincing wins, the Blues drew with Newcastle United last weekend and fell to Porto midweek.

Oh well, maybe we could turn this around and claim first prize in the ‘Premier League’s Ugliest Fans’ award. AMIRITE???
