Jose Mourinho Cleared In Eva Carneiro Abuse Case
In a good bit of news for Chelsea fans, Jose Mourinho has been cleared over verbally abusing the Blues doctor.
Amongst all the doom and gloom currently engulfing Stamford Bridge, there was some good news to emerge yesterday. Chelsea FC boss Jose Mourinho will not be charged after allegations that the Portuguese manager verbally abused Eva Carneiro were dismissed by the Football Association (FA).

In what was the first indication that Chelsea’s season would be tumultuous, Dr Carneiro and physio Jon Fearn were demoted after an incident during the club’s opening Premier League game against Swansea City. With the contest in the balance at the end of the game, the duo entered the field of play to attend to Eden Hazard, who appeared injured.
As Chelsea had already been left a player down due to Thibaut Courtois’ dismissal, the Blues were momentarily left with nine men as Swansea launched a dangerous counter-attack that could have won them the match.
Mourinho went on to berate his medical staff for being ‘naive’ as they returned to the dugout and subsequently demoted them. Carneiro has since left the club while Fearn has continued in his reduced capacity.
The Blues doctor has reportedly hired an expert team of lawyers to handle her case and the matter is far from over with litigation set to continue throughout the season. However, in a minor victory for Mourinho, the FA has dismissed claims that he directed verbal abuse at Carneiro in any sort of discriminatory manner.
"The matter was brought to the attention of the FA on Sept. 8 and led to the appointment of an independent academic expert in Portuguese linguistics to analyse the footage of the incident which included the audio recording. After receiving the report from the expert, the FA is satisfied that the words used do not constitute discriminatory language under FA Rules.Furthermore, both the words used, as translated and analysed by the independent expert, and the video evidence, do not support the conclusion that the words were directed at any person in particular. Consequently, on the evidence available to it, the FA will take no further action in relation to this matter.FA statement (via ESPN FC)"
Mourinho is also in deep trouble on the field this season with his severely underperforming Chelsea side languishing in the doldrums of the Premier League. Despite a string of three consecutive victories that appeared to have turned the tide, this was only to be brief respite from their poor form as they failed to win their next two fixtures.

More than the results, it has been the manner in which Chelsea have dropped points that is most concerning. Players have been receiving red cards, conceding penalties and allowing the opposition to walk through the defence. Compared to the superior defensive display of last season, the drop in standards is simply unbelievable.
While the Carneiro affair has hung over Mourinho’s head throughout the campaign, this victory marks the culmination of just one of the many battles that will be fought between the two parties in the coming months.
More significantly, any other disputes will now be played out in a genuine court of law, as opposed to a FA boardroom. The Blues boss, and the club itself, will have to be at the top of their legal game to avoid a heavy penalty for essentially running off one of the only females to operate prominently in English football.
This has been one hell of a season so far, and it looks set to get even more turbulent.
