The Blues fell to Southampton 3-1 on Saturday evening. Jose Mourinho broke down.
Chelsea FC continued their dire start to the 2015/16 Premier League season by crumbling at the feet of Southampton on Saturday evening. Another unbelievable showing from the Blues resulted in Ronald Koeman’s men taking a very well deserved three points in a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho subsequently went off on a seven minute-long rant during his post-match interview with Sky Sports. One question, seven minute answer.
Mourinho touched on a variety of issues including the FA, an officiating bias, the fragile nature of the team and his potential sacking. Frankly no words can do the interview justice so check it out below in all its glory and leave your thoughts in the comments!
This rant has widely been regarded as a meltdown on behalf of the Portuguese tactician and I can’t help but agree with the sentiment. Chelsea are currently in 16th position in the league table and Mourinho has never been in such a difficult spot.
However, the good news is that his passion for the club is clear and frankly you can’t dispute the fact that he is the best manager that Chelsea have ever employed. The concerning thing, though, is that his somewhat crazed state will filter down to the players. If your leader is on TV going mental, I hesitate to think about what’s going on behind closed doors.
This is a completely bizarre situation for everyone involved but with responses/rants like this, it seems unlikely to improve any time soon.
The Blues now have a couple of weeks until their next fixture (international break) and hopefully the players and management will be able to gather their thoughts during their time away from the club.
Aston Villa await.
