A lot has been made this season of Chelsea FC’s form and misfiring players, indeed several internet missing person appeals have been made trying to locate their whereabouts.
One of those missing in “in action” this season has been last season’s player of the year, Mr. Eden Hazard.
He is by no means alone in below par performances, but because he set the bar so high last year his has been particularly noticeable.
Everybody has their own theories as to what’s happened this season, and some are quite fanciful in the extreme, (including Eva’s curse!), but when it comes to Eden maybe we should listen carefully to what his own father has said recently.

In an interview with Belgian media outlet Sudinfo.be Thierry Hazard gave an insight into Jose Mourinho’s relationship with his son Eden, along with his thoughts about Chelsea FC’s stuttering start to the season.
Thierry said that the dip in Chelsea FC’s form this season is a temporary collective situation, and that he believes Jose Mourinho is the right man to bring both the team and his son out of the doldrums and back to winning ways.
When referring to Jose Mourinho he stated that he has dealt with him on a couple of occasions directly, when discussing Thorgan Hazard’s loan and Eden’s contract extension, and went on to say:
“I like what he has to say. I continue to support his choices. Eden as well who understands and accepts them.”
Thierry gave further insight into how Eden possibly felt after being dropped for the Porto Champions League match when he said:
“Moreover, I think he handles him well. When he drops him, he is not punishing him, I am sure, but it is by tactical choice.”
Eden Hazard, like Oscar, is still a young man approaching his peak years, and just like Oscar has been playing professionally at a high level for the last 6 years continuously. Without a suspension or major injury in all that time maybe, just maybe this might help explain his sluggish start to this campaign.
Thierry Hazard certainly seems to think this has been a contributory factor and almost seems quite keen for Eden to be rested more this season in preparation for the European Championships in the summer of 2016.
On behalf of Chelsea FC fans everywhere Thierry I’m sorry, but we want OUR Eden back before then!
Do you think long term fatigue has affected Eden this year, or is there something else?
