4. Bilic Got His Tactics Spot On

Last year it was Southampton and this year it is West Ham. It seems as if every year one team tries to defy all expectations and consequently freshens up the Premier league with their brilliant performances and unpredictability.

With the win over Chelsea, West Ham have now defeated four of the big guns in the Premier League and bluntly said, Slaven Bilic has done a magnificent job. The team looks refreshed, extremely motivated and energetic which has been unseen at Upton Park for some seasons.

Under Sam Allardyce, the whole club stagnated a bit. Granted they had to lift themselves from the utter disappointment of going down to the second tier of English football, but in the Premier League they have spent a lot of time fighting in the relegation zone.

The departure of Big Sam was needed because the Hammers required a new direction. They needed someone to allow the club to breathe and break the chains of stagnation, moving into a new era as they prepare for a move to their new stadium.

Bilic is turning out to be the perfect fit for this managerial position. Under him, the team is playing fast-paced and exciting football. The type of players he is bringing in, Payet being one of them, is a sign that the Hammers are changing their approach to the game.

Against Chelsea, Bilic was absolutely spot on with his tactics. He allowed Chelsea to have the ball and crowded the midfield. This was supported by high pressure which did not allow the Blues to assert dominance on the game in terms of chances created.

Bringing on Andy Carroll was a masterstroke. He was deployed to give the team an aerial presence against Cahill and Terry and his decision paid off as the Englishman scored the winner with a textbook header.

West Ham currently sit in 3rd place after 10 games into the season. The only question is, until when can this dream run continue?
