Sound the alarm! The back pages of the English paper are reporting that Carlo Ancelotti is in line to become next Chelsea FC Manager! Hold on. That actually doesn’t sound crazy….could the back pages actually be accurate for once? What a strange feeling, the English back pages reporting something realistic this week. If the reports are true, and Ancelotti would return to Chelsea on a permanent deal, that is pretty big news.
Jose Mourinho is under fire after Chelsea ragged start to the season. In the high pressure world of English football, a lackluster start to the season at a moneymaker like Chelsea is always a cause for the sacking. Even after a fantastic run to become English Champions last season, Jose is still considered to be on the chopping block.
A loss on penalties to Stoke City in the Capital One Cup Tuesday did nothing to help Jose’s case. The Capital One Cup and the FA Cup are Chelsea’s only real hope at getting any silverware this season, and now the defending Capital One Cup champions are out of the tournament.
With the attention surrounding Chelsea surrounding both Jose’s antics and Chelsea’s start’s less than stellar performances, Chelsea fans have been staunch supporters (for the most part) of the club and Jose Mourinho. The thought of replacing “The Special One” has been met with both shock and disgust. “There is no one better!” shout Chelsea fans around the world, and perhaps that is true at Chelsea Football Club.

If the change is all but happening, and Chelsea are going to sack Jose at some point this year, would Carlo Ancelotti be a bad choice to take over at Stamford Bridge? I don’t believe so, disregarding Carlo’s first round at Chelsea FC and looking to the future, perhaps a calming presence is necessary at Chelsea FC. Ancelotti brought a talented Real Madrid together amidst turmoil and won the Champions League with a cast of characters that it took a real effort to tame.
Chelsea certainly don’t have the talent of Real Madrid, but they are still a top 10 squad in the world on talent alone. If Carlo was able to manager personalities and talents at Real Madrid, perhaps he could be the man to tame the dressing room of Chelsea once again. It is becoming apparent that Jose’s time is coming to an end sooner rather than later. If that is the case, is there a better man to replace him then Carlo Ancelotti?
Chelsea fans would argue there is no one better than Jose! I bet Real Madrid fans will argue that Carlo was their best choice last year after his sacking. In big money football clubs around the world it is becoming more and more clear that even if there isn’t a better option, managers will be sacked if their performance isn’t up to par with what is expected at the club. Chelsea FC are amidst that very problem right now, and it appears as if Ancelotti is sending out feelers that he would be willing to return to Stamford Bridge if the contract is what he desires.
