These are just rumours, so chill out.
The decision has been made. Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich is apparently ready to sack his club’s most beloved manager just six months after winning the league.
EuroSport’s Dan Levene, who is known to have a strong relationship with the club and is usually a very reliable source regarding Chelsea news is reporting that it is just a matter of time before Mourinho is let go from his position as the manager of the Blues.
According to Levene, Mourinho was close to being sacked on Sunday. However, the board are waiting for a more opportune moment that would provide minimal fallout with the fans – supposedly after the Stoke match on Saturday.
It has been claimed that Abramovich is willing to give the boss another chance to turn the side’s fortunes around, but the Russian has shown to be a ruthless operator in the past.
It is no secret that Mourinho’s behaviour in the media has strangled the image that managers before him have tried to repair since his previous stint at the club. And despite all his talents, he has now led the club to a relegation battle for the first time in its Premier League history.

Mourinho has, of his own accord, admitted that he is inexperienced in dealing with the issues that the club currently faces. He looks out of depth, which is astonishing for a man of his experience.
At the end of the day, Mourinho is the type of manager who can turn a decent squad into a title-winning squad. He might want to spend on expensive players and plug key holes in his system, but he is the type of manager who will get clubs what they desire the most: titles.
However this current Chelsea squad has proven to be not up to scratch. This is a team that has lacked the reinforcements that would elevate them to title-challenging calibre.
Mourinho emerged long after the final whistle on Saturday for an eerie meeting with his coaching staff. The summit took place on the Stamford Bridge pitch, in front of an empty stadium. The glum and vacant faces that the coaches wore seemed ominous.
Now, should Levene be correct, the execution date has been set in Abramovich’s mind and it is only a matter of time before Mourinho leaves West London for the second time.
Quite who would replace the Portuguese tactician is unknown, given that Chelsea have seemingly already hired and fired almost every viable candidate out there. One thing for certain is that his departure will divide supporters.

Despite the poor form, Chelsea fans have been voracious in their support for Mourinho, and a large percentage would not be happy to see him leave after just two and a half seasons in charge. Indeed, Mourinho was ‘the chosen one’ to bring stability to the club; however, every fairy tale must come to an end and this one may have reached its final page.
