The Chelsea great has weighed in on the crisis.
Chelsea FC legend Frank Lampard has commented on the turmoil currently engulfing the Premier League champions. Speaking on Sky Sports’ acclaimed Monday Night Football (MNF) programme, the midfielder addressed Jose Mourinho’s uncertain future.
"Stability is the ideal. Manchester United were the ideal with Sir Alex Ferguson…You want to see a manager stay…He’s got a four-year contract and he has got the best record as Chelsea manager. He is proven world class, and I think they should stick with him."
His statement will echo the sentiments of many Blues fans who want to see an end to the revolving door that is the managerial position at Chelsea FC.
The club employed eight different managers in the six the years that bridged Mourinho’s two stints, but the return of the ‘Special One’ appeared to be the dawning of a new era in West London. The Portuguese talked of his long-term plan to build a dynasty at Stamford Bridge.

However, his third campaign back has not gone to plan to say the least. The Blues have lost six out of their 11 Premier League games and find themselves floundering in 15th position.
There were signals at the end of last season of the storm to come but no-one could believe that it would be this severe.
Chelsea limped to their league and cup double as the quality of their football fell off a cliff in the second half of the campaign. Upon reflection, it is quite clear that the West Londoners’ success was as much down to the mediocrity of their rivals than the dominance of themselves.
However, the consistently poor performances seen so far this season point towards a more fundamental issue brewing within the squad.
The football has been uninspired and leadership non-existent. Additionally, Mourinho’s behaviour has become more bizarre than ever. He has taken media opportunities to go on a seven-minute rant, turn up and have nothing to say, or not turn up at all.

Having said that, he has emphasised on numerous occasions that there is no club that he loves more. More importantly, the fans believe him.
While Abramovich is rumoured to have already made the decision to sack Mourinho in the next week, the lack of available of alternatives may be the Portuguese’s only saving grace at the moment.
There are few tacticians out there who are both around to begin immediately and up to the challenge of improving Chelsea’s fortunes. There are even fewer who haven’t been hired and fired by the Blues before.
Furthermore, the majority of fans are behind Mourinho. At least for the time-being. Superficially, there is almost no-one who is better positioned to turn things around than Jose himself. He may look out of his depth at the moment, but there is still reason to trust him.
