Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Eden Hazard Targeted By PSG, Real Madrid

The Chelsea star is the latest to be fed into the rumour mill.

Silly season is once again upon us as football inches towards the opening of the winter transfer window. Chelsea FC winger Eden Hazard seems set to be one of the more talked about players this time out, with rumours already surfacing which link him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

This isn’t even for January either as The Daily Mail reports that French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are interested in securing the Belgian’s services in the summer, joining the likes of Real Madrid in a supposed race.

"Paris Saint-Germain will battle it out with Spanish giants Real Madrid next summer to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea."

The Spanish outfit were frequently linked with Hazard throughout this summer, but those stories were evidently nonsense. However, with allegations of dressing room rifts and unhappy players in West London, these rumours may be treated more seriously this time.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has made the winger one of the scapegoats in this campaign, with Hazard being left out on a few occasions. He was benched for the Aston Villa game a month ago, a match which the Blues would go on to comfortably win 2-0.

The Belgian was then subbed off during the Liverpool contest, even though Chelsea were chasing the game. This decision exemplified how far Hazard’s star had fallen since his award-winning season a year ago.

However, in adversity comes opportunity and the European big boys are licking their lips at the prospect of prying the winger away from Stamford Bridge.

It will be interesting to see whether the player is tempted by a move, but this may greatly depend on how the rest of the season pans out. Chelsea have lost seven out of their 12 Premier League games and are showing little signs of improvement.

While one can accept a down year, the issue is that the Blues will face a struggle to finish in the top four, a scenario that will heavily influence Hazard’s decision to move. If Chelsea cannot offer the winger European football, why would he turn down an opportunity to play for a club that could potentially win the whole competition?

Having said that, many will point out that the club’s poor form is in part down to their star man being undisputedly terrible. The Belgian has looked slow and devoid of any creativity. However, while his innate quality may not be obvious at the moment, the fact that Hazard is still being linked with moves to Real and PSG highlights his potential.

The Belgian is in the middle of a rough patch, but I certainly do not want to see him leave anytime soon.
