Chelsea FC: Heaven And Hell
By Lee Fraser
It’s the dreaded international break again, that time of the year when chairmen, managers, players and fans take time out to evaluate what’s going right, what’s gone wrong, and in Chelsea FC’s case how to avoid relegation.
So here at The Pride Of London we decided to go back in time and have a brief look at the last 20 years and see which players would qualify for a heavenly team, and those who would fail to make it past the team from hell.
Before we start with the last 20 years though let’s have a listen to this song from the album every Chelsea FC fan had in 2000, “Blue Flag, A Tribute to Chelsea“. Long gone are the days of such wonderful beats and lyrics (thankfully) but it looked back at the heaven and hell players from 1972-1997 and was the inspiration for this blog.
So that was then, now’s a good time to roll out the players from the intervening years and update the heaven and hell line ups.
In the following player stats I’ve included every player with at least one Premier League appearance for Chelsea FC (including substitute appearances) between 1995 and the end of the 2014/15 season.
For the sake of argument I have settled on a 4-4-2 formation with players in their preferred position if possible.
