Chelsea FC are in desperate need of a win as they host Norwich City.
Domestic football and the Premier League return this weekend for an uninterrupted run into the New Year. The Blues start this next period with a game at home against the Canaries. Needless to say, a win is a must.
With an unbelievable seven defeats in 12 Premier League matches, Chelsea are floundering down in 16th position. This is uncharted territory for the modern Blues team and any team managed by Jose Mourinho. After waltzing to a league and League Cup double last time out, they have already been knocked out of the latter. Hopes of defending the former, meanwhile, are effectively dead.
Nonetheless, after a couple of weeks to gather their thoughts, the Stamford Bridge faithful will expect a fresh and rejuvenated Chelsea side to take the field on Saturday afternoon. The fans have staunchly stood by the players and the management but there is only so much loyalty that you can ask for from people forking out upwards of £50 per ticket.
Having said that, a positive result against Alex Neil’s men could power the Blues to a productive run through the festive period.
With that in mind, let’s predict who will receive the opportunity to prove their worth.
