Chelsea FC And Willian In Talks For Mega Deal

Willian is in line for a huge Chelsea FC contract extension after his impressive performances.

Brazilian midfielder Willian and his representatives are holding talks with the Blues brass over a new contract extension, according to reports.

The Evening Standard claims that Chelsea officials are keen to tie down the winger for a significant period of time on the back of his impressive displays throughout the club’s general sh*tshow. More importantly, they are willing to reward the player with new terms worth £100,000 a week.

"His current deal, worth around £80,000 a week, expires in 2018 but Chelsea want to give him a minimum of another two years and take his pay to £100,000 a week."

Willian has been the outstanding Chelsea player so far in this campaign, perhaps only matched by the performances of Asmir Begovic. The Chelsea squad have looked lost and uninhibited, but the crazy-haired winger has been driving the side creatively.

Critics have often cited his lack of goals as an area to be improved upon and indeed he has. Willian’s five goals make him the club’s top scorer while his quality set-pieces present the Blues with scoring opportunities on a consistent basis.

At the age of 27, the player is supposedly entering his prime and he is taking advantage of it. He is probably the only person enjoying Chelsea’s current struggles, as it has enabled him to stand out amongst his peers. If the Blues were in full-flow, all the attention would undoubtedly be centred on the likes of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.

At the beginning of the season, there were some rumbles that this season would be Willian’s last opportunity to truly fulfill his potential. With his original contract running through to 2018, Chelsea would be able to make some decent money from moving him on at the end of the season.

Thankfully, though, Willian has stepped up to the plate and is now set to secure his future at Stamford Bridge into his 30s.

While all the talk has been about Chelsea bringing in new players, the club have instead been showing faith in their current crop. Alongside this inevitable Willian extension, Ramires also signed a new deal a few weeks ago that keeps him in West London until 2019.

Jose Mourinho has ruled out January additions in a statement that was either the truth, or an attempt to bolster confidence among the squad. Either way, this squad certainly has the quality to challenge for the Premier League crown and hopefully the weekend’s win over Norwich City will be the start of a resurgence.
