In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I asked the staff here at The Pride of London to share what they are thankful for when it comes to Chelsea FC. Some are thankful just for supporting one of the great clubs in world football, while others are thankful for having cheered on a specific player.
As for me, I am thankful for all of the memories that I have associated with the club. From watching them over the past decade or so, few things can compare to the joy felt when watching the Blues win matches and lift silverware. The Champions League victory was an incredible achievement but seeing as how I wasn’t playing in Munich that day, I will never forget the memories I have of the agony and ecstasy felt over the course of 120 minutes and then some. The rush of emotion that surged through me when Drogba slotted that penalty home could have brought me to tears, but instead I chanted and celebrated until my voice was nearly gone. It is a day that I will never forget.
Let us know in the comments what you as a Chelsea FC supporter are thankful for when it comes to our wonderful club!
Andre Carlisle: Hate to be the one to steal the obvious here but I’m thankful for Didier Drogba. Not only his strength, skill, power, loyalty, commitment, and winning—but him as a person. His story and influence are incredible. I’d envy him at any club, the fact that he IS Chelsea Blue is cause for immense thanks.
Also goosebumps, STILL:
Mark Treadwell: I am thankful that I get to go to a lot of games, but more than that, I am thankful for Cesar Azpilicueta, for I love him so.
Connor Tomko: I’m thankful for all the memories have given me, whether they have been good or bad. Couldn’t imagine supporting any other team than Chelsea.

I’m thankful to root for a team that I can identify with so closely. Happy Thanksgiving to the blue half of London.
Brendan McDonnell: I’m thankful for some very specific things…
- I’m thankful for Eden Hazard. Thankful for the way he runs with purpose around the box and applies amazing pressure to the defense.
- I’m thankful for Nemanja Matic. Thankful for the way he tackles opposing players to not only win possession, but to then advance the ball leading to a break.
- I’m thankful for Thibaut Courtois. Thankful that, at the end of the day, our keeper is as good as anyone in the world and better than most.
- I’m thankful for Willian. Thankful for his improvement over the past two years. During what has been a dark season, his marked improvement has been a bright spot.
- I’m thankful for John Terry. Captain. Leader. Legend.
Ajitesh Rasgotra: I may be English but I’m certainly going to take advantage of this holiday and the extra midweek football of your kind.
With regard to Chelsea, though, I’m thankful for them playing in the heart of London at a football ground that does not require a day trip to reach. I’m also thankful for the joy it brings me to write about or watch them throughout the year.
Lastly, I’m thankful for the exciting, free-flowing attacking football that is synonymous with the Blues.
Oh wait.

Ayushman Basu: It may seem a little peculiar, but I want to thank Chelsea for accidentally losing the Champions League Final against Manchester United in 2008. If they didn’t lose that game and I didn’t see the way team and came together to console John Terry, I may not have connected with the Blues and never supported them in the first place.
