9. Bolton Wanderers, 24/09/14

Capital One Cup, Stamford Bridge

Loic Remy would have to shoulder a decent amount of credit for this goal. The Frenchman picked the ball up within the Chelsea half and sprinted towards the opposition net. He couldn’t quite finish off this run as his attempt was blocked by a white shirt.

Enter Oscar. The ball rebounded to the Brazilian who controlled it deftly with the outside of his right boot. As Bolton players continued to scramble back into their positions, Oscar calmly turned around to weigh up his options.

A couple of touches were followed by a drilled right-footed strike that powered its way past an outstretched Andrew Lonergan and into the bottom left corner.

It would be the winner in this League Cup tie as Chelsea would defeat Bolton 2-1. The Blues would go on to beat Shrewsbury Town, Derby County and Liverpool before triumphing over Tottenham Hotspur in the final. On the back of a trophy-less first season, Jose Mourinho had truly returned to Stamford Bridge.
