Chelsea FC great Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been appointed the new manager of Queens Park Rangers (QPR).
The Dutch striker consequently leaves his post at Burton Albion as he takes the hot seat in West London. Hasselbaink had guided the Brewers to the League Two crown last season and thus promotion to League One. His achievements have been recognised through this huge opportunity.
QPR represents Hasselbaink’s third coaching job, having started his career at Royal Antwerp. The 43-year-old has signed a contract of indefinite length and is evidently excited by this new challenge.
"I am happy to get the opportunity here at QPR, to lead the QPR family, be at the front of it all, put my stamp on things and take the club forward. This is an incredibly proud moment for me and I will give my all to represent the badge of the club."

Hasselbaink endeared himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful during his spell with Chelsea. His four seasons with the Blues yielded at least 15 goals each, with his total coming to 88 goals in 177 competitive appearances.
Despite not being able to win any major team honours with the club, he did pick up the Premier League Golden Boot in 2001 for hitting the back of the net 23 times in the 2000/01 campaign.
He is widely acknowledged as one of the best players to have pulled on a blue shirt in recent memory and is held in high regard around Chelsea’s part of West London.
This affection will now spread to QPR’s share as Hasselbaink attempts to deliver the goods for a team that has all the resources to compete in the Premier League.
While Blues fans will undoubtedly be happy to see their former star striker succeed, there will certainly be some light-hearted anger at his decision to take over their geographical rivals.
Chelsea supporters hold the men of Loftus Road in almost as much contempt as they do with regard to Tottenham Hotspur. This hatred was only further fueled by some results going in QPR’s favour during their last stint in the top division.

After Neil Warnock returned to the club to act as caretaker manager, Hasselbaink will bring his Burton assistant, David Oldfield, as he embarks on the next step of his career.
With the Rs just two points of a playoff spot, there is no doubt that the Dutchman will be gearing his new team towards the bright lights of the Premier League. Well-endowed QPR owner Tony Fernandes, meanwhile, may also be willing to make some transfer funds available should Hasselbaink impress between now and the beginning of January.
