Angry Chelsea FC Fan Berates Diego Costa, Provides Entertainment

This Chelsea FC fan was not happy with Diego Costa’s performance one bit.

Costa started his second consecutive Chelsea game on the bench, after throwing a bib in Jose Mourinho’s direction last weekend. He did, however, come on at the start of the second half as the Blues boss looked to provide a spearhead for the attack.

Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out as Costa proceeded to lark about the field at the peak of ineffectiveness once again. The forward has been the subject of much of the supporters’ recent frustrations and his performance again Bournemouth did not help his situation. This Chelsea fan, meanwhile, was supremely annoyed.

What a mug.

However, to be fair to the fella, there is certainly a large number of people backing the underlying point he is trying to make.

Costa’s attitude in this campaign has been questionable and in recent weeks appalling. He has seemed more intent on getting into fights with both the opposition and the officials instead of hitting the back of the net. Just three Premier League goals after his 20 in 26 appearances last season does little but reinforce this sentiment.

More from The Pride of London

While this Chelsea fan may be getting a tad too emotional, there is no doubt that calls for Costa’s axing have been gathering momentum. Rumours were circling over the summer that the former Atletico Madrid man was open to a return to the Vicente Calderon. While the stories at the time seemed ridiculous, the blissful disregarding of them by Blues fans are coming back to haunt them.

Costa’s poor form is quite representative of the club’s season in general. It has been largely unforeseen and painful to watch. The team have looked clueless and lost while Mourinho has been doing his best to cut a defiant figure on the touchline.

Sir Alex Ferguson was famed for tendency to cut superstars when he felt that they had grown too big for their boots. David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo are just two of the players who were moved on when their attitude overshadowed their performances.

After little over a season at Stamford Bridge, Diego Costa may have reached his expendable point. He is no longer an asset to the squad as his questionable on-field tactics risk dismissal and handicapping the team. While his aggression can be tolerated when he is scoring goals, it is simply an unhedged bet otherwise.

Furthermore, his petulant displays off-the-field, such as those witnessed at White Hart Lane, is the last thing that Chelsea need when they have been desperately trying to project an image of a squad united behind their manager.

Perhaps this is all just an overreaction in the heat of the moment, but the fact that such sentiments are being discussed is testament to Costa’s awful campaign so far.
