The youngster has had his future at Stamford Bridge up in the air in recent weeks after rumours circulated that he was disgruntled at a lack of regular football. The 19-year-old confirmed that he would be heading out on loan earlier today, before deleting the social media post.

While the Instagram page has since been removed, the Evening Standard has managed to make a note of exactly what Musonda said.

"Enjoyed playing youth football at Chelsea by winning titles and creating some unforgettable memories in the process. It’s now time to take the next step to continue my progression on loan and develop furthermore towards becoming one of the very best one day at Chelsea. With hard work and dedication I believe I can and I’m very excited."

The Belgian midfielder was set for showdown talks with Chelsea management after his frustrations became known. Despite being tied down to a long-term contract earlier this year, Musonda was reportedly angling for a permanent departure from Stamford Bridge unless an appropriate loan deal could be arranged.

With this news, it is evident that the latter has happened and that Musonda will spend what will likely be the rest of the season in a more valued position.

It is not yet clear to which club he will be headed, but there will undoubtedly be no dearth in suitors. Arsenal is just one of a bunch of leading European clubs keeping an eye on the youngster who is thought to have the potential to exceed the talent of compatriots Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne.

This amicable resolution is a positive development in an otherwise dire Chelsea season. Even with long-term contract, a footballer who wants to move in the modern game will find a way to engineer an exit. Especially given the buzz surrounding him, Musonda could have played his cards in a fashion that would see Chelsea cash out on him either in January or in the summer.

Thankfully, it seems as though a solution has been found that keeps the midfielder committed to breaking into the Chelsea first team.

Some Blues fans, meanwhile, will be wondering why his situation had reached such a point. At the age of 19, the Belgian is approaching the stage at which the most promising talents on the continent begin to receive increasing first team playing time.

Chelsea have had a problem with graduating their numerous young talents through to the senior squad and it was feared that yet another precocious academy product would slip through the net.
