Diego Costa Praises Chelsea FC Fans For Enduring Support
Chelsea FC striker Diego Costa has praised the fans for their unwavering support during this campaign.
The Blues have been in awful form this season. Eight losses in 15 Premier League games leaves them in 14th position in the table and after the loss against Bournemouth, finishing in the top four seems an unlikely prospect.
However, Chelsea waltzed to a comfortable and encouraging 2-0 victory over Porto on Wednesday night as they secured their progression to the next round of the Champions League. Speaking to the Spanish press (and translated by yours truly) after the contest, Costa praised the fans for their loyalty and unwithering support during these tough times.
"I have no complaints about the Chelsea fans because they have always supported us even though we have not been doing well."

And he’s right. For some reason or another, Blues fans have continued to pack out Stamford Bridge and make the coach journeys to away games despite the poor results on the pitch. Furthermore, they have continued to chant and sing the names of the club and its players even when it has appeared like the men in blue were putting in less than 100% effort.
This has been as rough a patch as the club has experienced since the turn of the century but it is reassuring to see that the modern generation of Chelsea fans, those who have been brought up on unending success, understand the trials and tribulations of a football club.
The Blues supporters have been truly fantastic and frankly if the team are unable to buck up their ideas on the back of such blind loyalty, then they simply do not deserve a place in this sport.
Fortunately, while some points in this season have seen select Chelsea players put in lacklustre and half-hearted performances, it has been hard to fault the work-rate of the squad since the international break. The players are most certainly trying, it just has not worked out so far.
However, with a promising 2-0 defeat of Porto on Wednesday night, hopefully the club will be able kick on and bring some Christmas cheer to the Stamford Bridge faithful.

Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, has been continually praising the fans throughout the campaign and he had more reason to after last night. At various points throughout the contest the stadium chanted his name as they reaffirmed their support for probably the greatest manager in Chelsea history.
Furthermore, full credit must also be given to the Porto fans who not only applauded but joined in with the Blues crowd. Mourinho’s unprecedented success with the Portuguese outfit is evidently still cherished.
