Chelsea FC youngster Andreas Christensen has been selected by the Danish Football Association as the 2015 Talent of the Year Award winner.

The award is designated for young Danish footballers who have shown tremendous growth over the past year and have developed in to big time prospects. This is a tremendous achievement for the Chelsea loanee as he continues to garner attention all over Europe.

The Danish defender turned heads with strong performances in a difficult Champions League group that included Manchester City, Sevilla, and Juventus. Although Gladbach finished fourth this was an incredible opportunity for a player who would certainly not have been afforded the same chance had he stayed at Chelsea FC.

The youngster’s form in domestic competitions has also been impressive as he has started 14 games for Gladbach in both the Bundesliga and German Cup. He has helped them reach third in the table which if maintained could see them back in to the Champions League next season.

Because of his high level of play both domestically and abroad, the award was given to Christensen despite playing regularly for just four months this year. Previous winners have included the likes of Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg so stardom may be on the horizon for the Chelsea youngster.

He has always had excellent potential but it is fantastic to see how well he is doing with his opportunities in Germany. Perhaps he could be the long-term partner in Chelsea FC’s central defense alongside Kurt Zouma whenever John Terry decides to hang up his legendary boots.
