Chelsea FC are in a bad spot. Bad enough that Andy Carroll has taken time out to essentially rub it in.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Andy Carroll has refused to rule out the possibility of Chelsea being relegated. The West Ham striker was evidently hiding a massive grin behind his words.
"It’s crazy to see, the quality in that team, at the bottom of the league…It is hard to think Chelsea could be in the bottom three at the end of the season. But the way they are going, I don’t see why they can’t get relegated. I think it’s on the cards."
Cheers Andy.
Throughout this nightmare of a campaign, all Blues fans have insisted that there is simply no chance of the club heading down to Championship. However, with every additional loss, the dream of the rest of the footballing world is becoming more and more feasible.
While Chelsea supporters may, by now, be used to seeing people try to wind them up with such talk on social media sites such as Twitter, these comments from Carroll are almost certain to bring out some irritation. Take some time today to scroll through your timeline and spot the inevitable ‘Carroll is sh*t’ tweets.
Nevertheless, this does little but emphasise the absolutely dire situation that Chelsea currently find themselves in. The Blues sit just one point (!!!) above the relegation zone after 16 Premier League games. More concerning, though, is that nothing appears to be heading strongly enough in the right direction.
Roman Abramovich has reportedly afforded Jose Mourinho more time to turn things around. This may well be due to the manager’s post-match comments in which he claimed that his squad had ‘betrayed’ him. Whatever the reason, Mourinho will undoubtedly be aware of the need for a victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

As for Carroll, the Englishman has been trying to find his goalscoring touch. His career appeared to be destined for success during his spell at Newcastle. He drove the Toon’s attack and was an integral part of their team. However, matters took a turn for the worse when 11 goals in 19 Premier League games somehow warranted a £30 million January move to Liverpool.
It was at Anfield where his true stripes shone through. The big man became the butt of jokes as he managed to hit the back of the net just 11 times in 58 competitive appearances for the Reds.

West Ham then bit the bullet by bringing him to Upton Park for £15 million on the back of a loan deal. The Hammers have been rewarded with 15 goals in 67 appearances.
Awful.
At least he has found something to do in making fun of Chelsea though.
What was that about Chelsea fans abusing Carroll?
