Chelsea FC host Sunderland on Saturday in a crucial Premier League clash. Will Jose Mourinho pick the youngsters?
Chelsea slumped to their ninth league defeat of the season on Monday night, as a visit to table-toppers Leicester City resulted in a deserved 2-1 loss. Jose Mourinho looked completely hopeless on the touchline as his squad once again failed to perform to an acceptable standard.
Much has happened since the final whistle, with rumours doing the rounds that Roman Abramovich had summoned the board for a crisis meeting. Sky Sports claimed that such an event did not in fact happen, but Mourinho’s position was discussed at board level.
However, it seems as though the Portuguese tactician will be in charge of the team by the time Sunderland rock up on Saturday.
Will the Blues boss bend to the calls for a greater employment of youth? With a top four finish realistically out of reach, there is much justification for selecting the youngsters and giving them an opportunity to show the superstars how it’s done.
Unfortunately, that seems unlikely. Let’s check out how Mourinho may set up his Blues side.
