2. Brendan Rodgers

Chelsea fans will be desperate to see this possibility quickly fall by the wayside.

Rodgers was part of Jose Mourinho’s set-up during his first tenure, helping with the youth system. He first significant managerial appointment was with Swansea City. He led them to a Championship Play-Off Final victory and thus promotion to the Premier League. He then ensured that the Swans comfortably avoided relegation in their first top-flight season.

His impressive management led to him landing the Liverpool job, which was less successful. After Luis Suarez nearly led the Reds to Premier League triumph in 2014, a poor campaign last time out and a awful start this season resulted in his dismissal.

However, with a high-profile job now under his belt, he is being touted as a potential replacement.

It does seem unlikely that Rodgers will be brought it for anything other than a caretaker role, as his overall inexperience and failure to deliver silverware will be held against him. With the massive and troublesome egos in the Chelsea dressing room, Rodgers does not appear tough enough to take charge.

Furthermore, with most of the current players coming after Rodgers left, there won’t even be the familiarity that may have worked in his favour.
