Another action-packed day of Premier League football, so let’s get to the hot takes.

Seven fixtures this afternoon in the Premier League with plenty of goals and penalties abound. Has Jose Mourinho found his next job?

  • No 12:45 kick-off? Oh well, Brighton-Middlesbrough it is.
  • Oh look, Jose Mourinho.
  • If someone actually knows what the final score was, let me know. Just for closure.
  • Guus Hiddink was announced as the interim Chelsea boss prior to their 3pm kick-off against Sunderland. I can smell that FA Cup win already.
  • Steve Holland in charge of the Blues this afternoon, excited to see his line-up.
  • Oh.
  • Nevertheless, a 3-1 victory for Chelsea as they put some breathing room between themselves and second eighteenth place.
  • The Stamford Bridge faithful was heard loud and clear. Can’t complain, but they should move on next weekend.
  • Diego Costa booed off when he was subbed. Personally, I’ve always been a fan of Starbucks anyway.
  • Chelsea now just 11 points off fourth place. Stranger things have happened.
  • Leicester City win again. That too in a tight 3-2 game away at Everton. Claudio Ranieri is leading this team to Premier League glory. Get your money on it.
  • Another goal for Romelu Lukaku, Jamie Vardy must be sh*tting himself.
  • Manchester United are awful. Sorry, Louis Van Gaal is awful. Jose Mourinho is licking his lips at the moment.
  • Kudos to Norwich City, as the 2-1 victory at Old Trafford momentarily lifts them out of the relegation zone.
  • Another loss for Southampton? That makes it four defeats and one draw in their last five Premier League games.
  • Furthermore, the 2-0 scoreline in their Tottenham Hotspur clash means that they have drawn a blank in three of these games.
  • All this is boding well for that fourth position, though, isn’t it Blues fans?
  • Starting to actually believe that this Dele Alli bloke is a decent player. Have to admit that I look like a bit of mug for originally thinking he was some sort of sandwich.
  • Then again, he is English.
  • Crystal Palace left it late to beat Stoke City 2-1. This means that they hold onto sixth position. I don’t know if anyone has told Alan Pardew yet, but at this rate they will have to play in the Europa League next year. Expect Palace to start plunging down the table before May, purely because of this reason.
  • Ooooooooooooooooohhhhhh yoooouuuuu beaaaauttttaaaaaay.
  • Ahem.
  • PATRICK BAMFORD WATCH, 19th December 2015: Nope, no idea where he is.
  • Bournemouth also left it late to achieve the same scoreline away at West Brom. It seems as though Eddie Howe’s men finally have the confidence to compliment their ambitious football.
  • Newcastle United took on Aston Villa in the late kick-off. Nah I didn’t watch much either. It was 1-1, some say.
  • Having said that, full credit must go to the officials for running around for 90 minutes in apparently torrential rain in a fixture that no-one cared about.
  • Six converted penalties this afternoon, including one for the Blues. Perhaps we can blame the weather for some of the terrible challenges?
  • Just waiting for the news of that one bloke who put a bet on six penalties being scored this afternoon. Yes, yes, so that I can hate him and his newly found fortune.

Well that was that. A draw between Arsenal and Manchester City on Monday will leave Leicester a whopping four points clear at the top. Contemplate that as you head out this evening (if you’re cool) or sit in front of the TV undoubtedly watching some god-awful festive film (the rest).
