Chelsea FC boss Jose Mourinho was a guest on the Claire Balding Show shortly before his dismissal.
Jose Mourinho was dismissed as manager of Chelsea FC on Thursday 17th December. Just a few days earlier, the Portuguese tactician had appeared as a guest on BT Sport’s Claire Balding Show. His appearance and comments, if anything, showed a man that was nowhere near the end of his Blues managerial career.
Mourinho seemed relaxed and at ease, despite the awful situation that his club were in at the time.
"When you think about the moments that you’re happiest away from football, what are the things that make you smile, that give you peace, that make you feel alive? In this moment? Win a match."
With the Blues in such poor form, Mourinho admitted to the dire situation in which he found himself in. However, the calmness and light-heartedness with which he delivered his answer does much to dismiss the accusations of tension engulfing the Chelsea dressing room prior to his deaprture. With such a cool response, it only suggests that he felt that he was in charge of the situation.
Unfortunately (for some), he was not gifted enough time to turn matters around and was duly sacked after a defeat at the hands of Leicester City. Upon viewing this interview, it is hard to see how Mourinho, in this mood, would have caused all the problems that tabloids reported.
