Reports: Cesc Fabregas To Sue Chelsea FC Great Regarding Jose Mourinho Comments

Cesc Fabregas is reportedly set to take legal action against Chelsea FC legend Pat Nevin regarding alleged comments about Jose Mourinho.

Pat Nevin claimed on BBC Radio Four’s Today programme that Cesc Fabregas was the one who allegedly said that he would ‘rather lose than win’ under ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

In light of this, The Daily Mail reports that the Spanish midfielder has instructed his lawyers to prepare a case against Nevin.

"Fabregas has authorised lawyers to send legal letters alleging defamation to former Chelsea player Nevin, who made his claim on BBC Radio Four’s flagship Today programme last week…Richardson brought up the ‘rather lose than win’ comment with Nevin, who said: ‘Yeah, that was Cesc Fabregas, wasn’t it?’"

The former Barcelona player has been a target for fans’ hatred in this campaign, with many believing that he simply has not put in the required effort on the field. Furthermore, comments such as this has fueled speculation that he was the leader of a dressing room revolt against the Portuguese manager.

In fact, the ill-feeling against him is so strong that a substantial number of Chelsea supporters took his farewell message to Mourinho with a dose of cynicism, before the stadium booed him off at the weekend.

While Nevin’s remark is certainly not helpful, if these rumours regarding legal action are grounded, it will not make Guus Hiddink’s job any easier. Michael Emenalo claimed that there was ‘palpable discord‘ between the players and Mourinho. However, the manager’s dismissal has created palpable discord between the supporters and those whose run the club.

This infighting will not aid Hiddink’s attempts to restore harmony between all those associated with Chelsea FC. Furthermore, with Nevin a regular contributor to the club website and in-house TV station, Chelsea TV, the duo may well cross paths frequently.

However, it must be reiterated that this is merely a rumour at this point in time and one emanating from the famously dubious British tabloids as well.

Fabregas, meanwhile, will want to be focusing on improving his performances for Hiddink. The midfielder has been poor so far this season to the point that he was deservedly dropped by Mourinho. His Spanish compatriot, Pedro, recently backed the midfielder to turn his form around and win back the support of the fans.

Chelsea take on Watford on Boxing Day as they look to string together consecutive wins. While Saturday’s victory over Sunderland may have been encouraging, the truth is that the Black Cats were awful. Quique Sanchez Flores’ men represent a much more potent threat, especially after their 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool.

A decent showing from Fabregas will do much to help the Blues get the three points.
