Paul Pogba – Joshua Sutter

All I want for Christmas is a young, strong, athletic, skillful French midfielder named Paul Pogba. I’m sure most Chelsea fans will agree that the midfield this year, among many other positions, has been subpar. Particularly the play of Cesc Fabregas; Nemanja Matic has been alright recently. I believe Paul Pogba would be a great addition to Chelsea for obvious reasons, but in order to be more specific I’ll lay out a few below:

More from The Pride of London

  1. He has great hair, and we all know with Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry we need more great hair at Stamford Bridge.
  2. We will have a French connection between Pogba and Kurt Zouma. See what I did there?
  3. More seriously, Pogba has such a strong presence on both offensive and defensive sides of the ball that he will immediately change the atmosphere and narrative around the Chelsea midfield.
  4. In my opinion, Chelsea need a midfielder who can bring the ball up from the midfield and push the pace. Granted, Pogba isn’t exceedingly quick, but he adds a new threat from the middle that Matic and Cesc don’t offer. At their best, Cesc was a pinpoint passer and Matic a fantastic defender who covered the entire field. There was never a threat from either of them at scoring and/or recycling the ball rapidly up from the middle.

My Christmas aspirations are high this year and, unfortunately, I’ll probably get another Juan Cuadrado transfer and a mid to low table finish.

Bah humbug.
