Chelsea FC Transfer Targets: Christmas Wishlist
Javier Hernandez – Marco Vonderheide
Just a year ago, Diego Costa was absolutely unstoppable. Even through his antics and injury troubles, he managed to net 20 goals in the league. Now, the Diego Costa we see on the pitch each week is simply a shadow of his former self. In all competitions this season, he has managed to just score three times in his 19 starts. With his goalscoring ability seemingly gone, his antics and poor form have taken all the headlines.

It has been a completely different story this season for Chicharito. After being told that he had a “1% chance of playing” by Louis Van Gaal, Javier Hernandez left for Germany, joining Bayer Leverkusen. Since signing for the German side, he has gone on to score 18 goals in 21 matches, making him one of the top scorers in all of Europe. The Mexican international’s confidence has never been higher.
There have been plenty of rumors involving a Premier League return for Chicharito, especially with regard to Chelsea and Arsenal. I think he would be an excellent signing if Roman Abramovich managed to pull it off in the January window.
In order for Hernandez to find success at Chelsea and keep his confidence, he has to be given the minutes and opportunities that he’s been given at Leverkusen, and right now I would definitely start him over Costa, Loic Remy and Falcao.
He’s a player that is extremely hard-working and passionate, along with having a great attitude (unlike a certain Blues forward). Too often this season we’ve seen a great ball played into the box only for no-one to be in the right position to attack it. Chicharito always puts himself in goalscoring situations and just might be the signing that could change Chelsea’s season.
