Chelsea FC came into being as a football club in 1905 under chairman Henry Augustus “Gus” Mears and his brother Joseph Mears. The brothers had initially tried to bring Fulham FC to the Stamford Bridge ground that they had purchased but decided to start their own club after the Cottagers rebuffed their offer. What a brilliant decision that was.

110 years after the Mears brothers decided to start the club, name it Chelsea Football Club, and make blue the official color, it has become a global powerhouse in world football. The Blues have been champions of England five times and have lifted European trophies before and after the Russian takeover.

None of these accomplishments, or the club for that matter, would have been possible without a host of great players that have worn the Chelsea shirt and kept the blue flag flying high. We here at The Pride of London, after much deliberation and passionate discourse, have chosen the fifty best players that called Stamford Bridge home.
