38. Tore Andre Flo: 1997-2000

A great campaign with Norwegian outfit Brann peaked the interest of many continental clubs. Chelsea, however, beat everyone to Tore Andre Flo’s signature in the summer of 1997. With his contract closing in on expiration, the Blues captured the forward for a reasonably cheap £300,000 fee.

His 163 competitive appearances brought him, and the club, 50 goals as he complimented legends such as Gianfranco Zola and Dennis Wise. His four seasons with the Blues coincided with a heady period in the club’s history.

The Nordic striker helped Chelsea win multiple trophies including one FA Cup and one League Cup. He was also part of the squad that brought home that famous European Cup Winners’ Cup. His importance to the side is evidenced by the fact that he featured in all three of these finals. His quality, meanwhile, is proven by the mega £12 million fee that Rangers were willing to cough up in order to secure his services. Flo departed in late 2000, acknowledging that his playing opportunities were diminishing.

While he has played for a multitude of clubs throughout his career, Flo holds the Blues closest to his heart. He has since returned to Stamford Bridge as a youth coach and club ambassador. You will struggle to find anyone complaining about his continued association with Chelsea FC.
