29. Kerry Dixon: 1983-92

Kerry Dixon began his professional career with Oxford United but joined Chelsea FC in 1983 for a fee of £175,000. Before becoming a pro, Dixon spent time in the Tottenham academy but never made an appearance for Spurs.  Dixon’s fee, while somewhat impressive at the time, was an absolute bargain for the production that Chelsea received in return.

In nine seasons with the Blues, Dixon scored an incredible 193 goals in all competitions. This was while Chelsea was yoyo-ing between the First and Second Division but it was an impressive feat nonetheless. So impressive, in fact, that he is still third on the club’s all-time leading scoring charts.

Dixon won no major honors with the Blues but his goal tally speaks for itself and guarantees him a place in the club’s history. Since leaving Chelsea he played for several other clubs and took on the role of player-manager and co-manager at several other clubs.
