11. Ashley Cole: 2006-14

Ashley Cole may be worthy of a place on this list solely because he fobbed off Arsenal to join the blue side of London. He arrived in 2006 in a deal that saw William Gallas head in the other direction. Safe to say that Chelsea were the beneficiaries from the transaction.

Cole laid a claim to being the best left-back in world football during his stay at Stamford Bridge as he patrolled the flank diligently while providing an attacking option whenever needed. Somewhat unfortunately, his stint coincided with a lean patch on the Premier League front for the Blues, as he won just the one title.

Having said that, four FA Cups, one League Cup, a Europa League and the Champions League more than compensated for that.

Cole was an indispensable part of the squad for each but his last season in West London. He amassed just under 340 competitive appearances, turning out at least 40 times in all bar two campaigns.

After leaving Stamford Bridge, he has played for AS Roma but his future is now up in the air. One thing for certain, though, is that he will go down as one of the greatest defenders to ever pull on a Chelsea shirt.
