Chelsea FC: Two Loanees Set For New Clubs In January
Two Chelsea FC loanees have made changes to their current loans and will be looking for improved terms at their next destinations.
Midfielder Jordan Houghton is currently on loan at League One side Gillingham but has decided to end it on January 3rd based on a lack of playing time. The 20-year-old started the season off well with the lower-league side, making 14 starts across all competitions.
He apparently did not make enough of an impression on manager Justin Edinburgh because he has not played in the club’s last nine matches. Returning to Chelsea in the January window will give Houghton a chance to find a new club before the window shuts and could perhaps move to another League One side.
Had he been more impressive at Gillingham he could have moved to a Championship side but he is not quite there at this stage of his career. Look for updates on Houghton’s loan status in the weeks to come.

Brazilian fullback Wallace is currently on loan at Serie A club Carpi, but like Houghton, has failed to make much of an impact. This is his second failed loan stint in Italy as he made only three appearances in all competitions at Inter Milan in the 2013-14 season.
That initial move to Inter was a bit too ambitious for the then 19-year-old but he did find success at Vitesse Arnhem last season. He has made six appearances for Carpi in his third loan spell but is looking for a change of scenery.

After signing a new extension with Chelsea FC, Globo Esporte claims that Wallace is in the initial stages of a loan move to Brazilian side Gremio. The 21-year-old winger is a native Brazilian and a return to his home country could help him find his feet and revitalize his career.
Blues supporters may not see as many high-profile signings coming to the club this January but could see a great deal of changes in the situations of many of the young loanees. Some may even be heading back to Stamford Bridge as reinforcements of sorts to add depth to a thin squad.
