Chelsea entered last weekend’s FA Cup tie with expectations of a comfortable win on their shoulders. Fortunately, they went about their business in a professional manner and safely dispatched Scunthorpe United 2-0. Check out the highlights from the game in the video above.

Diego Costa and Ruben Loftus-Cheek both registered on the scoresheet as Chelsea scored at vital moments to quash any growing confidence from the visitors.

Costa got on the end of a delightful cross from Branislav Ivanovic, just managing to squeeze in front of Iron defender Scott Laird to get a crucial touch on the ball. Loftus-Cheek, meanwhile, was fed with a beautiful cut-back from Cesar Azpilicueta, slotting it home lethally.

Scunthorpe, in truth, failed to pose any substantial threat to the Blues throughout the contest and Chelsea were essentially afforded a confidence-building win. Furthermore, it is reassuring to see the club register another clean sheet after the atrocious defending that plagued the first half of the campaign.

This win is the first of what will hopefully be three in the week. Chelsea next welcome West Brom on Wednesday evening before hosting Everton at the weekend to end their three-game homestand.

The run of games and, more importantly, a potential run of three consecutive victories is exactly what the Blues need to spark their resurgence. As the club desperately try to climb back up the table, three points are a must in both of these impending home fixtures.
