With the winter transfer window open, let’s see what rumours regarding Chelsea FC are flying around the press on this fine Friday morning.

The January transfer window is now open, meaning that Premier League teams (and their European counterparts) are free to buy and sell players until the end of the month. Here at The Pride Of London we like to give you a daily round-up of all of the stories knocking about . Most of these are incredibly speculative, but we will pursue those with more grounding throughout the rest of the day.

Ezequiel Lavezzi

The PSG man was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the summer, but evidently nothing came of it. After a surprisingly small amount of speculation since the January transfer window opened, rumours concerning Lavezzi have come out in full force. The latest story claims that Chelsea have opened negotiations with the forward, although the source is his agent Alessandro Moggi. I would put odds on this purely being a mischievous attempt to drum up interest (and wages) for the pair of them.

Alexandre Pato

Rumours linking Pato with a Stamford Bridge move continue to intensify. After suggestions emerged only yesterday, the latest reports claim that Chelsea are already in talks with the 26-year-old about a Premier League switch. Pato is almost always linked with some massive transfer and it always fails to materialise. Could this be the one time it doesn’t? One of the positives of a potential deal is that Corinthians will apparently be happy with a relatively modest £10 million fee.

Carlos Bacca

Bacca appears to be turning into the John Stones of this transfer window as fresh reports regarding a Chelsea move continue to surface each day. This morning, it has been claimed that Manchester United are ready to do battle with the Blues for the Colombian’s services, resulting in a bidding war that could see the forward’s price tag head north of £30 million.

Didier Drogba

MLS commisioner Don Garber has come out and said that he hopes Drogba stays in the league. The Ivorian has been in negotiations regarding a release from Montreal Impact in order to return to Chelsea as a coach, but no agreement has been reached thus far. The big boss, though, is clear as to where he stands on the issue and who can blame him? With the MLS still developing, they need big draws like Drogba to help it.
