With the winter transfer window open, let’s see what rumours regarding Chelsea FC are flying around the press on this fine Friday morning.

The January transfer window is now open, meaning that Premier League teams (and their European counterparts) are free to buy and sell players until the end of the month. Here at The Pride Of London we like to give you a daily round-up of all of the stories knocking about . Most of these are incredibly speculative, but we will pursue those with more grounding throughout the rest of the day.

Nacho

This is a new name for you. Real Madrid defender Nacho is reportedly ready to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and Chelsea are keeping tabs on the Spanish native. Having graduated from Real’s youth set-up, the 26-year-old has found his playing time somewhat limited. As a result, he is prepared to leave the giants in a bid to properly fulfil his undoubted potential. He could easily turn into another Cesar Azpilicueta at Stamford Bridge.

Alex Teixeira

The saga involving Alex Teixeira has taken another turn. Liverpool bigwig Ian Ayre had flown out to Florida to meet with Shakhtar Donetsk officials at their mid season training camp. However, his arrival somehow caused the attacking midfielder to pick-up a hamstring injury. Given his history with such issues, a deal with either Chelsea or Liverpool looks to be in jeopardy. Much like the Reds’ recent history, this has turned into a laughable failure.

Nemanja Matic

This rumour was coming. After his awful form throughout the campaign to this point, it is now being reported that Nemanja Matic is looking to move on from this chapter and do so by leaving Chelsea. The midfielder was regarded as one of the world’s finest last season, but the tables have strikingly turned. A confidence crisis is supposedly causing the 27-year-old to seek a fresh start and the Blues will have to do their utmost to keep him in West London. Should they? I’ll leave that to you.

"With his confidence affected, Matic is understood to be finding it difficult to get himself back to his desired level and is considering whether a change of club is what his career needs. – The Daily Mail"

Diego Costa and Pedro

Atletico Madrid may be set for a daring raid on Chelsea’s attacking department with the Spanish outfit eyeing moves for Diego Costa and Pedro. Atletico sporting director Andrea Berto has reportedly flown to London to discuss the potential of a deal although Diego Simeone’s club may not be willing to pay above £38 million for the pair. Costa has recently returned to form, but various Jose Mourinho-related accusations still hang over his head. The duo may just take the opportunity to return to their homeland.
