With the winter transfer window open, let’s see what rumours regarding Chelsea FC are flying around the press on this fine Thursday morning.

The January transfer window is now open, meaning that Premier League teams (and their European counterparts) are free to buy and sell players until the end of the month. Here at The Pride Of London we like to give you a daily round-up of all of the stories knocking about. Most of these are incredibly speculative, but we will pursue those with more grounding throughout the rest of the day.

Jamie Vardy

Chelsea could make a daring move for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy by involving Loic Remy in the agreement. The Englishman has starred in this Premier League campaign and understandably a host of clubs are interested. Given the Foxes’ current position, Vardy seems happy to stay with them as they chase an unimaginable league title. However, sending unwanted forward Loic Remy may be the key factor in determining his true availability.

Alexandre Pato

Details continue to emerge regarding Alexandre Pato’s unconfirmed confirmed Blues switch. When interviewed upon his arrival in London yesterday, the striker declared that he was joining Chelsea. However, there has been no official announcement yet. It is thought, though, that the player has passed his medical and that the Blues will service his modest £35,000 per week wages during his Stamford Bridge loan.

"The 26-year-old will join the Premier League champions from Brazilian side Corinthians on a loan deal until the end of the season…They will pay the entirety of his wages – believed to be only around £35,000 a week – over the loan period. – The Daily Star"

Dani Carvajal

Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal is a name that has done the rounds this winter. The Spaniard has been somewhat frozen out at the Santiago Bernabeu and is thus open to a midseason switch. With the Blues lacking in effective defensive depth, this could be a very shrewd move. However, the five-year deal that Carvajal signed in the summer means that he will not come cheap. Would he be worth it?

Matt Miazga – REPORT

Who? I don’t really know either. US international defender Matt Miazga is on the verge of sealing a move to West London from New York Red Bulls. The deal is reportedly worth around £3.5 million with scouts holding the 20-year-old in high regard. Naturally, many have already labelled Miazga as the new Papy Djilobodji. Let’s just hope that this is not the case.
