Diego Costa/Jackson Martinez
Chelsea have rejected an audacious attempt on behalf of Atletico Madrid to bring Diego Costa back to the Vicente Calderon. The striker, despite his recent form, is reportedly unsettled in London at the moment and the Spaniards were looking to take advantage of the Blues’ interest in Jackson Martinez to force through a late deal. However, Chelsea have batted back the offer, maintaining their strong desire to keep the 29-year-old at Stamford Bridge at least until the summer.

Loic Remy
Chelsea may see some action on transfer deadline day but it will likely be regarding outbound players. Loic Remy is one of the men who could move by midnight, with Leicester City looking to complete a big-money deal for the Frenchman. The clubs prefer a permanent agreement but the striker is apparently more keen on a temporary switch in the first instance. It will be interesting to see how this develops throughout the day.

Thomas Vermaelen
Chelsea are looking into signing ex-Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen as they evaluate replacements for John Terry. The veteran has been told that he will not have his contract renewed and thus the Blues are in need of an experienced defensive arrival in time for next season. The 30-year-old has failed to register much game time since switching to Barcelona and thus all parties are willing to make a deal happen.
