Chelsea FC are set to appoint Massimiliano Allegri as their new boss, according to the latest reports. He will take over from Guus Hiddink and bring staff with him.
After sacking Jose Mourinho in December, there has been much speculation regarding the next permanent Chelsea boss. Guus Hiddink was appointed on an interim basis until the end of the campaign as the Blues officials settled on a man for the 2016/17 season.
According to The Metro, Massimiliano Allegri is set to be the next man to have a go in the Stamford Bridge hotseat, with a four and a half year deal already agreed. Furthermore, citing Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Italian will bring a trio of coaches over from his current club, Juventus.
"Allegri, 48, is set to become the next Chelsea manager after agreeing a four year deal to take over at Stamford Bridge…Allegri’s assistant Marco Landucci, fitness coach Simone Folletti and physio Stefano Grani have all reportedly agreed to join Chelsea."
Allegri’s name has indeed been in the hat for the job, but it must be said that he likely wasn’t the board’s first choice, let alone the supporters. Blues fans were holding out hope for the arrival of Pep Guardiola ever since he announced his decision to leave Bayern Munich at the end of this campaign.
However, Manchester City have successfully courted the highly-regarded manager, as Guardiola is now confirmed to take over from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer.
The incumbent City boss, meanwhile, also shot to prominence once his impending departure from the Etihad was made public, but should these reports prove grounded then Allegri is the chosen man.

The 48-year-old will bring with him a short yet impressive resume. He has won two Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia between spells with AC Milan and Juventus, while he almost led the latter to an unimaginable treble last season. Unfortunately, Juve could not upset Barcelona in the final.
Nonetheless, that campaign put Allegri on the map as a top-class manager with his work recognised in winning the Serie A Coach of the Year award.
However, many Chelsea supporters are understandably concerned by the prospect of Allegri managing at Stamford Bridge. He has relatively little experience at the highest level, while he has not yet led a team based outside of Italy. As a result, it is argued that his credentials are unproven.
It must be again stressed that neither the club nor the man himself have commented and/or confirmed these rumours so there is a good chance that it is all just hot air.
