3. Chelsea Show Poise On Counter

Even without the injury crisis in defense, Chelsea were expected to adopt a more defensive approach to the fixture, and they did just that. PSG were afforded long spells of possession, and were able to get a couple of good looks at the Chelsea goal. The Blues played a counter attacking style of football, and did so with some effectiveness.

There were multiple instances where Chelsea, usually lead by Willian, were able to collect the ball in their own half and make a break down the pitch. There were also a couple of times in which the Blues were actually able to control possession in their opponent’s half, and knock the ball around a bit. This will surely give the side confidence that they can take it to PSG when the clubs meet at Stamford Bridge.
