4. Courtois Comes Up Big

If Chelsea were to walk away with a credible result, Thibaut Courtois would surely have to play a big part, and that he did. The importance of a quality goalkeeper can often get overlooked, but Courtois’ ability was on full display tonight. He had the defense to thank a couple of times to prevent dangerous PSG moves, but made a couple of big saves himself.

With the score tied, he denied Lucas, and a free kick from Angel Di Maria to keep the score level. Eventually he and the rest of the defense would succumb to a fine effort from Edinson Cavani, but overall we saw another solid performance in net from the Belgian. He’ll have to play similarly if Chelsea have any chance of advancing to the next round.
