Roy Keane Was On The Verge Of Making A Good Point, Then He Promoted Unnecessary Aggression

Roy Keane shared his thoughts on Eden Hazard the other day, in typical Roy Keane fashion. It’s safe to say that the Chelsea FC player would not be safe in his presence.

Eden Hazard has been in awful form throughout the season. After being showered with a number of accolades for his displays last time out, this campaign has seen the Belgian contribute very little to the Blues cause. This was exemplified midweek when he was almost non-existent against PSG.

Manchester United great Roy Keane was doing TV work for British station ITV and he had some words on Hazard’s situation. In classic Roy Keane-style, the former midfielder let loose on the winger, especially after the unwise comments that he made in the build-up to the game.

However, while on the verge of closing out a decent point, Keane just had to ruin it with some unnecessary remarks.

More from The Pride of London

Keane was one of the finest midfielders, or even players, to grace the Premier League but his temperament and aggression were frequently called into question. While it undoubtedly added to his game, he occasionally crossed the proverbial line and these comments are only proof of his ability to do something off-colour.

The Irishman went on to call him a ‘spoilt child’, which is a fair comment. Hazard’s claim that he would find it hard to refuse a move to PSG, given that they are Champions League contenders, was poorly timed and insulting to the fans. The Belgian has been as culpable as anyone for Chelsea’s awful season and after sticking by the club, hearing such words has not sat well with the supporters.

Unfortunately, Keane has tempered a valid argument with the sort of overly bullish nonsense that is just not necessary. Hazard is indeed in need of a dressing down, but the last thing you want is for a teammate to leave something on the tackle in training.

It is this attitude that non-Manchester United fans have justifiably held against someone who is genuinely one of the best midfielders the sport has seen.

Back to Hazard, though, and the Belgian has much to do to win over the fanbase. His comments, coupled with his tepid performances, have led many to call for his sale in the summer. After desperately praying for his retention some six months ago, an increasingly number of Blues fans are now saying that they would happily take the money.
