3. Costa Continues Solid Form

As noted in the opening slide, Diego Costa is officially back to firing on all cylinders. The Chelsea front man is finally making an impact due to his scoring record, not his on-field antics. His goal was a culmination of a passing move that shows Chelsea have the quality to strike at a moment’s notice. Cesc Fabregas chipped a ball into Eden Hazard. Hazard then lofted a cross into the box, which Costa powerfully headed home.

It is encouraging to see arguably Chelsea’s three most important attacking threats combining for a goal. Even more encouraging is the fact that Hazard was the one who got the final pass. The Belgian is continuing his return to top form, and hopefully his confidence will be boosted after an assist, and a goal from a free kick. Costa’s goal was the first of the game, and gave Chelsea a deserved lead. He was taken off for Bertrand Traore in the second half, but made his mark on the game while on the field.
